ImageMy recent trip to Mumbai confirmed again what i already knew: the people in India are very very good. Well, that brings us a lot of opportunities actually. First of all, it enables us here to bring more work to India than we might have expected up until now creating more value for money for our clients. Secondly, it creates other carreer possibilities for locals. More differentation, growth, choice and distinction.

Personally i think there are no exceptions regarding the type of work to be off-shored. Everything can be offshored. Even creative, scientific, or management tasks. The funny thing is, in fact there is no offshore or onshore. There is also nothing like a "frontoffice" or "backoffice". By strictly seperating these functions u'll miss the point in being global. For instance, sometimes design is better done locally due to the need of close communication with the client. But for other functionallity of the same application the work might be better performed in another region simply for example coz the knowledge and experience is far superior over there.

Some people might say that it is hard to cooperate due to the distance, communication problems and cultural differences. True, but that's nothing new. The cultural differences between the Scandinavian and the Italian people, or the English and the German, or the DUtch and the Frencn or even between the Dutch northern and southern regions Tongue out are also significant and cause challenges in collaboration. So i guess it's nothing more than an excuse and serves protectionism. Not very sensible coz if one doesn't pick up those oppportunites, the competition will.

Of course there are a couple of things to take care of. Like some technology to communicete, some standardized processes so everybody knows why, what, when and how to do something, some trained ppl and coaches, some governance to monitor work and improvements, . . . . . .

Oooooh, this looks like an "accelerator". People, Process, Technology. Well, that's no rocket science either! Foot in mouth

Hee Rob, what about sharing the story of the "Twentse Textiel industry" or "Philips production" too? :grin Serious illustrations of "nothing new"...
